The first time I felt I couldn't enter a restaurant with my child was a trip to Niagara on the Lake. It was not because the restaurant refused me, I couldn't get the stroller into the restaurant. I then realized the restaurants obviously haven't thought about having children as customers which meant their menu would not likely accommodate children and this was not the right restaurant for us. As a parent I try to be smart about where I can take my son who is now 5 yrs. I won't enjoy a meal if my son is fussing nor would I take him to a restaurant if I know he will misbehave and disturb other customers. I have taken my son to other fine dining restaurants (who was 3 at the time) and he was fine. We don't stay at the restaurant for too long and we tend to skip the coffee and dessert. My son has learned there are some restaurants we have to sit quietly. I appreciate having the option to take my son and have him experience finer restaurants.
