History
It all started in the bathroom. True story.
When Maureen Dennis found herself breastfeeding in a coffee-shop bathroom stall and contemplating changing her baby on the floor, she knew she had to change the world.
Maureen put together Wee Welcome's first printed guide to baby-welcoming locations in September 2004. She was amazed at how many places in her city met her newly established criteria. Places few moms knew even existed.
Moms were thrilled to pack her guide in their diaper bags, and national and grassroots sponsors got on board to help spread the word.
The guide was a huge hit. In one year it spread to six cities with plans to continue its rapid expansion across the country. Now there are 4 provincial guides for British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and a Canada Wide Guide. The new weewelcome.ca welcomes anyone from around the world to join in the conversation!
The popularity of the guide and the feedback from moms led to the development of our new website. The new WeeWelcome.ca provides new parents with the tools to have a baby and a life. Find local baby welcoming places to go with baby in tow, find a group to hang out with, share your adventures in your own blog, enjoy local events and enter to win , rate and comment on fantastic gear to make it all easier and fun!
The team has grown too. Wee Welcome has a team of regional representatives who, along with Maureen, are poised to make Wee Welcome the ultimate resource for new parents on the go.
