Fall may be all about orange and brown but in this environmentally conscious climate, its also about Green.
Going Green that it is. If this is one of your resolutions this new school year, read on as Jeff Chown of Organic Evolution provides great tips for a greener you.
What are some of the small things we can all do to live a greener life?
It really doesn't take much, here are a few easy suggestions to get started.
- Reduce, recycle, reuse
- Use cloth instead of disposable diapers
- Buy local products
- Use a stainless steel water bottle instead of plastic
- Run your dishwasher during off-peak hours and only when full
- Instead of driving, walk, ride your bike or take transit
- If you must drive, don't idle your car
- Avoid buying PVC plastic toys
And pay attention to the personal care items you are buying and using. With just a little research you can find natural alternatives, including ones that Organic Evolution offers, like UV Natural sunscreen (made entirely of naturally-derived ingredients, fragrance and preservative free), a pure mineral makeup line called Livinia and Kaia Bamboo Facial Cleansing Cloths - totally sustainable and biodegradable wipes for removing make-up, cleansing and toning.

Tell us about your green trip across Canada.
Many people have come up with creative (and sometimes amazingly simple) ways to Green their lives, homes, businesses and communities. What better way to find out how we can all make a difference than by visiting these Green change-agents, experiencing their solutions and sharing them with everyone.
So I'm hitting the road for one year, starting with a drive across Canada (in the 2009 Green Car of the Year - a VW Jetta TDI Clean Diesel Wagon). Help guide my journey by visiting greenodyssey.ca and sharing your stories of people and places I can visit to experience what 'Green' truly means (recommendations for some good 'driving songs' are also much apperciated).
You are launching a new opportunity called "Join the Evolution." What is this and how can people get involved?
More and more people are educating themselves about the choices available to them as they make the shift to living a greener life. As they discover natural solutions and products that they believe in, many excitedly share these discoveries with their friends, family and neighbours. Our goal is to build a community of these enthusiastic individuals, 'Evolutionists', who would then help bring these eco-conscious products, services and ideas to their communities and beyond. Anyone can be an Evolutionist - all they need is a passion for the environment and the ability to share it with those closest to them. They can be of any age with any background and work experience. Each will bring their own strengths and enthusiasm to the project as we endeavour to make great green choices available to all. For more information, and to offer suggestions and ideas, visit JoinTheEvolution.ca
Organic Evolution distributes carefully chosen eco-conscious personal care products to green-minded businesses and individauls.

Great tips and article. I just wish the toy companies would get on board a bit faster about non-toxic products and pvc!
Then again, that's why i try and buy from smaller companies! (Canadian ones!)
